AUSTIN (KXAN) - Police arrested a man they say attacked a man in a wheelchair.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, 41-year-old Bryan Douglas went to the victim's house on Sept. 3 claiming he was going to kill someone and that he wanted to say prayers.
After Douglas and the victim prayed together, Douglas placed the wheelchair-bound victim, who had no use of both arms in a headlock, and allegedly continued to choke him.
According to the affidavit, Douglas also grabbed a pair of barbecue tongs off the grill on the porch and attempted to stab the victim with them.
The victim, who had been in a car accident and was burned over 60 percent of his body, said he knew Douglas was trying to kill him. According to the affidavit, Douglas was so intoxicated that the victim was able to get away from him .
Douglas was charged with injury to a child, elderly individual, or disabled individual, which is a third-degree felony, and is being held on $100,000 bond along with a no-contact order with the victim.
