AUSTIN (KXAN) - Texas Department of Transportation has closed one lane of the US Highway 183 southbound exit to eastbound Hwy. 71 heading towards Austin-Bergstrom International Airport because of damage from a vehicle that struck the bridge.
The westbound outside lane Hwy. 71 at US 183 is also closed.
TxDOT officials said a vehicle with equipment was traveling westbound on Hwy. 71 and struck the bridge that is part of the 183 exit Wednesday afternoon.
The lane on westbound Hwy. 71 will remain closed until the bridge inspection is completed. It will likely last through Wednesday's rush hour.
The left lane on the US 183 exit bridge will remain closed until it can be repaired, officials said.
The lane closure is a precaution only. The right lane will remain open for traffic
