Going to the movies isn't as easy as it used to be.
Wendy Dallaire bought a ticket Thursday night at the Regal Westgate Cinema in South Austin, but when she tried to get in, she was stopped.
"She asked if she could look at my bag, I said "no,"" said Dallaire. "Then she said she wasn't going to admit me and I said on what grounds? There's no probable cause, we went through this, she was very adamant about her position."
Wendy says she felt her privacy was being violated.
"I don't think we should be searched," said Dellaire. "Not without reason, not without cause."
We reached out to Regal Cinemas, they said they have a policy which in part reserves the right to inspect the contents of any backpack, package or bag. Flix Theaters in Round Rock said managers check bags at their discretion but say it doesn't happen often.
But has all this added security changed the movie experience? We asked some movie fans outside of the Alamo Drafthouse what they thought.
Some women we spoke to were indifferent.
"They get checked at the concerts and what not, so it's all the same," one woman said.
Another added, "It's a safety thing and I've got nothing to hide so it really doesn't matter."
In the meantime, Wendy is hanging onto her purse, it's contents still remain a mystery.
