AUSTIN (KXAN) - Two people were hurt this afternoon in a collision near the airport in South Austin. It happened just before one o'clock.
Police say the driver of the car was southbound on highway 973, and was struck by a pick-up heading westbound on 71. Police are investigating whether the driver of the pick-up ran a red light.
Police officer, Todd Gage, told KXAN, "We're early in the stages, and trying to determine whether he ran the red light, but some witnesses are telling us he did."
The driver of the sedan was taken to Brackenridge with critical injuries. A passenger in that car was also hospitalized.
Injuries in the pick-up were all said to be minor. Police say alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and it's yet to be determined whether charges will be filed. KXAN will update you as information is available.
