AUSTIN (KXAN) - A human bone found by a construction crew on Tuesday night led to the discovery of more bones by a search and rescue team on Wednesday.

The bones were found in a 9-acre lot for sale on East Riverside Drive near Yellow Jacket Lane.

Homicide detectives believe the remains of of just one person and they are looking through missing person cold cases as they try to find an identity.

No determination could be made about age, gender, or race from the remains but Sgt. Scott Ehlert said it is obvious that the body had been in the brushy lot for at least several months.

An autopsy from the medical examiner could reveal more details about the body and help investigators determine an identity.

The remains were found across the street from the Riverside Meadows subdivision and were found at ground level rather than beneath the soil.
