Home Depot has hundreds of spring jobs

AUSTIN (KXAN) - There is big news for people looking for jobs in Central Texas.

Home Depot is hiring 80,000 seasonal employees across the nation. That includes 585 in the Austin area to kick off the upcoming spring season.

Home Depot spokeswoman Kim Leslie said about half of these seasonal jobs traditionally turn into permanent positions with the company.

In addition, Home Depot has an effort to match military veterans with job spots. The Online Military Skills Translator portion of the company matches unique military skills with positions within the company.

Both the skills translator and a calendar of the military hiring events can be found online.

Leslie said seasonal associates will be assigned responsibilities based on their previous retail or home improvement experience and based on the needs of individual stores.
