AUSTIN (KXAN) - A longstanding tradition in Austin has become a lesson in service for one family. Cynthia Danielson and Andrea Lagrone are teaching their three-year-old daughter, ZuZu, the importance of helping others this Thanksgiving.
"It's time to get her involved in community service and to learn to give back,” Lagrone said.
The family visited homes in East Austin on Thursday, volunteering for Meals on Wheels & More. Half of the group's clients live alone, and even more live below the poverty line.
"It touches my heart,” said Danielson. “It makes me feel special. It makes me glad that I'm doing it."
Meals On Wheels & More said it has enough money for meals at Christmas, but so far there are not enough volunteers. The group is urging people in the community to step up and give back this holiday season.
