AUSTIN (KXAN) - The First Warning Weather forecast calls for a record-breaking 107 degrees in Austin Tuesday afternoon.
Monday was the hottest day of the year so far, as Camp Mabry hit 105 degrees. That is one degree shy of the 2009 record.
Tuesday is expected to be so hot that the National Weather Service issued the first Heat Advisory of the summer for Central Texas, meaning that afternoon heat index readings may reach between 105- and 110 degrees. This level of heat is dangerous for outdoor workers and those who don’t have access to air conditioning.
It is possible a few isolated showers or thunderstorms could develop Tuesday afternoon due to the intense heating and a weak, upper-level disturbance.
