AUSTIN (KXAN) - Bundle up and bring in the potted plants and outdoor pets.

A hard freeze is in store for all of Central Texas. That means temperatures will fall below freezing for an extended period of time overnight.

We got a taste of the chill on Thursday morning temperatures dropped into the mid 30s in parts of Central Texas after Wednesday's cold front ushered in a much colder air mass.

As high pressure takes over, winds calm down and skies remain mostly clear. We’re in for a very cold night Thursday.

Expect temperatures in the Hill Country to drop into the low 20s. We’ll see the mid- to upper 20s from Austin to the east.

Temperatures Friday afternoon will rebound into the mid 50s. That is still below normal for this time of year.
