Greg Hamilton moves ahead in sheriff's race

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Travis County Sheriff Greg Hamilton grabbed the  early lead for re-election over Republican Republican Raymond Frank.

Hamilton, a Democrat, was gaining over 61 percent in preliminary returns.

Down the county ballot, Constable Bruce Elfant was comfortably ahead in the race for tax assessor-collector over Republican Vid Vak and Republican Gerald Daugherty was leading incumbent Democrat Karen Huber in the race for county commissioner Place 3

Daugherty was seeking to regain the post he lost four years ago.
