AUSTIN (KXAN) - Many successful business women will tell you they sold Girl Scout Cookies. If you look at women in politics, Fortune 500 companies and those who are entrepreneurs, you are literally looking at the who’s-who of former cookie-selling scouts.
The Cookie Program is the largest girl-led business in the country and is structured so that every dollar raised during the sale stays in Central Texas. Cookies are $3.50 per box and $2.65 from every box sold directly supports local Girl Scouting. (The other $0.85 pays for the cookie itself.)
Sales began on January 18th and will end on February 24th, so get them while supplies last.
This year finding cookies is a little easier with a new Girl Scout Cookie Locator app , available in the iTunes store. Girl Scouts and their families can also find resources on the scouts website .
Austin troop 1550 says the fist person to sell 1,000 cookies gets a free iPad. For more information on how to support the troop, call Jennifer Lynch at 512-630-4831.
