AUSTIN (KXAN) - A suspect in the so-called GameStop robbery spree in the Austin area over the summer was arrested in Albuquerque, N.M., on Friday.
Officers in the New Mexico city took 27-year-old Christopher D. Perea into custody after responding to a call about an attempted suicide. Late last month, four felony arrest warrants were issued for Perea in connection with robberies in Texas and Colorado.
Perea was taken to University of New Mexico Hospital for medical treatment and observation, then booked into the city jail
According to an arrest warrant for Perea, an Albuquerque police detective recognized him from surveillance videos from Austin.
The detective also said that his office was investigating a series of robberies in Albuquerque that started in the middle of May and ended just prior to the robberies in Austin. Perea had also been identified by victims in robberies that occurred in Albuquerque, according to police.
The last GameStop robbery in Austin was in North Austin on July 2 . Perea has been lined to at least three Austin robberies.
