AUSTIN (KXAN) - If you've been putting-off adopting a pet because of the expense, wait no more. In honor of Thanksgiving fees will be waived all weekend.
According to Sarah Hammond, of the Austin Animal Center, these furry friends will be thankful for a new home.
"I think when they are housing together 24/7 in a small kneel, I think things can get a little tense for the animals. And it can be a little stressful when all they really want is a pair if feet to curl up next to and to spend the holidays in a home and not a shelter," said Hammond.
In addition to waiving adoption fees, all the animals will be spayed or neutered with vaccines, micro-chips, collars and tags.
According to Hammond, “It really doesn’t get any better than that. No rebates to fill out just come in get your animal and get them out the door. We really want to give these animals homes; this is not a place for an animal to live."
The Austin Animal Center is located at 7201 Levander Loop and open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Call (512) 978-0525 or visit their website for more information.
