Forecast: Cold, wet Christmas Eve

Christmas Day temperatures will warm to the 50s

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Another in an ongoing series of wet storms system is expected to move across Texas on Christmas Eve, bringing widespread light rain to Central Texas.

The clouds and rain will hold temperatures in the low to mid 40s, so it will be a wet and cold Saturday.

The storm system will move slowly, so persistent light rain could continue through early Christmas morning.

While surface temperatures are expected to remain above freezing, it will be cold enough that some snow could mix with the rain over the western Hill Country including Mason and San Saba counties.

No snow accumulation is expected in the KXAN viewing area, however, one to three inches of snow could make it a White Christmas just west of the Hill Country, mainly west of a line from Brownwood to Sonora, including San Angelo.

Travelers should be aware that snow may also fall over parts of North Texas, from west of Stephenville to near Denton and Sherman.  The Dallas-Ft. Worth area is expecting only cold rain.

Improving weather is expected Christmas Day, with sunshine returning, and temperatures warming to the low 50s.
