AUSTIN (KXAN) - Four minutes after the clock struck midnight, the first baby of 2013 was born in Central Texas.
Proud parents Mary and Leo Rodriguez, welcomed their second child into the world.
"I was like, 'What?! We won the cookie basket!'" said Mary.
Aubree Star was born at St. David's South Austin Medical Center. Her first name holds special meaning.
"I have a very close friend who lost her mother and when I told her I was going to have a girl she just screamed and she said her name is going to be Aubree," said Mary.
She was born a healthy 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long.
Aubree is also the newest Longhorn fan. Her father insisted she be dressed in burnt orange when the news cameras arrived at the hospital Tuesday afternoon.
"This moment is the best present this year," said Leo. "And you know, it's a new life for my family."
Aubree has an excited big brother. The 7-year-old will get to meet his new sister when she comes home from the hospital on January 4.

Scott & White Hospital in Round Rock welcomed not one but two babies early New Year's Day. Twin girls celebrated their birthday this morning.
Ilena Haley made her appearance first, at 11:35 a.m, weighing 6 pounds, 1 ounce and was 18 inches. Her sister, Leticia Haley was born at 11:49 a.m, weighing 6 pounds, 6 ounces and was 18 inches. Proud parents, Joshua Haley and Naomi Gayton of Hutto, have doubled up on bundles of joy in 2013.
