POINT VENTURE, Texas (KXAN) - A fire that started in a cliff-side townhome in the community of Point Venture kept neighbors on edge.
The call came in sometime around 4 a.m. and quickly spread to a joining townhome and down the cliff. About a dozen fire fighting units came from North Shore, Lake Travis and even Cedar Park. All residents from the townhomes were safe, but hours later the fire continued and surrounding homes and townhomes had to be evacuated as a precaution. One witness says was shocked to see the big ball of fire just outside his back yard.
"I woke up at 4 a.m. and saw bright lights through my backyard window, pull my blinds up saw one unit, three floors completely ablaze," said Jim Johnson, who was asked whether he was worried about the fire coming his way. "Yes, because it's in my backyard."
As of Saturday afternoon, investigators had not determined the cause of the fire. Five total units were severely damaged and half a dozen residents were misplaced.
