AUSTIN (KXAN) - A 77-yar-old man died in a rollover wreck on Monday afternoon closed down portions of Manchaca Road.

The incident ocurred around 12:40 p.m. and shut the northbound lane at Stassney Lane and the southbound lanes near William Cannon Boulevard.

A preliminary investigation showed that a white 2002 Nissan Xterra and a red 2000 Chevrolet Silverado were northbound in the 6600 Block of Manchaca.  The Xterra attempted to pass the Silverado on the left and crossed the double yellow line. The Xterra then struck a green 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier head on.

The Cavalier was southbound in the 6600 block of Manchaca.

The driver of the Xterra, whose name was not released, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The drivers of the Silverado and the Cavalier were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The death was the 74th of the year on Austin streets.
