Fatal accident on South 1st overnight

AUSTIN (KXAN) - A man was struck and killed overnight in an auto-pedestrian accident on South 1st Street near Stassney Lane.

According to the Austin Police Department, the accident occurred in the 5800 block of South 1st. A man was hit by a vehicle which then drove away from the scene.

The man was pronounced dead when police and emergency medical responders arrived on the scene. Austin Police Department's vehicular homicide unit is investigating the accident. No description of the vehicle has been released. KXAN News will release more details as they become available.
