AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin is a beer town. Whether on a hot summer day or at an outdoor event, the suds are often flowing. Which means big business for one local brewery.
Austin Beerworks brews four different craft beers. And for owner William Golden, testing out the beer is just another day in the office.
"We've had a 400 percent explosion this first full calendar year of production," said Golden.
Golden says this year has been outstanding year for beer. After moving into their new 6500 square foot warehouse, they'll be able to get even closer to keeping with with their orders.
Golden said, " We can't produce enough beer to supply to even supply just Austin right now even though we're producing 5,000 barrel-range."
Four business partners and 7 employees are kept business all week but they say work is as fun as the people you're around.
Golden told KXAN, "One of our favorite things is to really hire guys we enjoy hanging out with -- it's like being around your best pals and make beer -- it's not a bad way to make a living."
Shion Aikawa owns a small restaurant nearby and buys several cases a beer a week. She said the Peacemaker brew provides their perfect broth for their dishes.
Things look good for the company heading into the new year. Their beers have won some national awards, production is up to 100 cases an hour and they're looking to expand outside Austin one day.
But for now, they'll savor the taste of success as they continue to build a buzz around their brew.
On his success Golden said, "People are really fired up about local products here. It's been a great ride getting this thing up and going and really having people love the product."
