AUSTIN (KXAN) - Excitement was high for the University of Texas - University of West Virginia game, with thousands in the stands and one couple tying the knot in the parking lot of the game.

Greg Comer and Julia Abbott were among the WV faithful who made their way to Darrell K Royal - Texas Stadium. The couple, who met a year ago, decided to get married outside the stadium.

The two got the chance to tie the knot when WV joined the Big 12 this year. The couple, who expected about 80 of their friends to attend, both work in the oil and natural gas industry back in West Virginia.

Retired Judge Harley Clark, who helped create the "Hook 'em Horns" sign when he was a cheerleader, agreed to officiate the wedding. Comer said the tailgating reception was open to everyone. Once the game is over, the duo will head to Turks and Caicos for their honeymoon.
