AUSTIN (KXAN) - An accident overnight claimed a man’s life in Central Austin.
It happened shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday in the 5500 block of Shoal Creek .
Police say a man, identified as 24-year-old Jordan Gibbs Nash, crashed his truck and was pinned in the vehicle.
KXAN viewer Loran Pittman, who lives nearby, said the truck hit a tree.
"It was loud. It woke me up. I wanted to make sure my neighbors were OK," Pittman said.
Many drivers use the area as a cut-through to MoPac Boulevard, Pittman said. He tells KXAN News there have been several wrecks in the neighborhood. Pittman says he's seen drivers race through Shoal Creek at speeds exceeding 60 mph.
A passenger in the truck was hospitalized with minor injuries.
No word on what caused the accident. No one else was involved in the crash.
