AUSTIN (KXAN) - Artist's renderings are posted online for the J.W. Marriott hotel planned for Downtown Austin.
The renderings from the developer show a 30-story building connected to a smaller structure with outdoor seating along a street planted with trees on both sides.
The hotel will be built on the corner of 2nd Street and Congress Avenue, two blocks from the Austin Convention Center.
The hotel will have more than 1,000 rooms and 35 meeting rooms. The ballroom is expected to seat as many as 3,000 people. It will also have a 20,000-square-foot exhibition hall.
The developer is boasting it will be the largest hotel in Austin. It will include a full-service regional Italian restaurant, a three-meal casual dining option, a high-energy bar, a comfortable relaxing lounge and a coffee shop.
