Domestic violence murders up in Austin

2012 jumped up two slots for a total of eight

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Incidents of domestic violence murders were slightly up in 2012 according to Austin Police.

APD says there were six family violence murders in all of 2011.

The number of family violence numbers in 2012 jumped up two slots for a total of eight.

Research from the Texas Council on Family Violence finds that nearly 150 women statewide were killed by their intimate partner in 2010.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the overall number of victims of domestic violence statewide decreased from 212,106 in 2010 to 211,769 in 2011.
