AUSTIN (KXAN) - Dell Children's Medical Center celebrated 10 years of saving lives with a ceremony on Monday.
The event recognized the Heart-Gift Foundation for its decade long partnership with the medical center.
The foundation serves children from developing countries who have life-threatening heart defects.
Taking part in the ceremony was a 6-year-old girl from Nicaragua. She will undergo surgery in Austin this week and is one of hundreds helped by Heart Gift.
"To date we've saved over 150 children," said Dr. John "Chip" Oswalt. "It's right at 153. We've served children from 23 different countries around the world. And we have expanded from the original chapter that was here in Austin to now having five chapters."
