AUSTIN (KXAN) - Robb Hamic with Summit Self Defense has trained in a style of Israeli self defense known as Krav Maga

It's typically used by military and law enforcement, and the Austin Police Department is trained in this style of self defense.

Hamic said if someone chokes you to take your thumb to their eye and apply pressure - eight pounds of pressure can put the person's eyes in the back of their head.  Also use your knee to hit the person in the groin area and your elbow to hit the side of their neck.

For kids who are grabbed by a stranger, Hamic's advise is to use to their legs to kick the person and to knee them in the groin.

The idea is to move into the attacker and surprise that person so you are no longer the victim.
