AUSTIN (KXAN) - Friday is the deadline for Allan Elementary School parents to opt out of the IDEA Public Schools in-district charter school program in East Austin.
A group of parents has asked for a two-week delay to the deadline, saying they haven't been giving enough time to review information and make a decision.
The parents and community advocates said many still don't know about the changes in store for next year.
To opt out, parents must mail in and have the forms postmarked no later than Friday, or may turn in their forms in person to district headquarters or to the campus by the time the office closes on Wednesday.
Next week numbers should be available as to how many families have opted out of the charter school program..
