AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Travis County Commissioners are considering voting themselves and other elected officials in the county a 3.5 percent pay increase.
The held a public hearing on Tuesday to discuss the idea.
Next week, commissioners will vote on the plan. If it passes, the raises would go into effect in the next fiscal year, according to Travis County Judge Sam Biscoe.
An elected county commissioner's current salary is $92,362 and,if the court approves the pay increase, their salary would be $95,595 according to the Travis County Commissioners Court agenda.
Most non-elected Travis County employees already received an increase in pay of 3.5%.
However, certain provisions must be met before the elected officials can get a pay increase, including Tuesday's public hearing.
