AUSTIN (KXAN) - In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, city of Austin administrative offices and other municipal facilities will be close Monday. Normal business hours will resume Tuesday.

Multiple roadways will also be affected due to the annual MLK Community Celebration, with a march beginning at 9 a.m. near the MLK Statue located on the University of Texas campus -- near Speedway and Chalmers Avenue. The festival portion of the event kicks off upon arrival to the Huston-Tillotson University campus and will end at 3 p.m.

Roadways affected by the event include San Jacinto Boulevard, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Congress Avenue, and 11th Street. A map of the area can be found here. The African American Quality of Life initiative van will provide services as a part of the MLK celebration activities.

Facility closures include City Council offices, City Hall and Public Library locations. Furthermore, all recreation, cultural and senior centers will be closed for the holiday.

For Austin Recourse Recovery customers, trash, recycling and yard trimmings collection will remain the same.

The Zilker Botanical Garden, Austin Nature and Science Center, Sheffield Education Center, and city-operated golf courses and tennis centers will remain open, as well as the Deep Eddy and Stacy pools. Barton Springs Pool remains closed for the Barton Creek Bypass Repair Project.
