AUSTIN (KXAN) - In an effort to help Austin businesses prepare for the new single-use bag ordinance, the city will offer a pair of training sessions on Thursday.
The new ordinance will take effect on March 1 and regulates the types of bags that can be distributed.
It includes such businesses as grocery and retail stores, restaurants and convenient stores that provide carryout bags to customers.
The training is free and registration for the event is preferred and can be done online through bringitaustin.com .
Two sessions will be offered on Feb. 7 at City Hall in the Council Chambers. The meetings will cover the compliance process and implementation plans. There will also be time for questions and answers.
The two sessions are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
