AUSTIN (KXAN) - There is good news for anyone who has been stuck waiting for a cab in Downtown Austin. Austin City Council is considering adding 75 new cabbies to Austin streets.

Yellow Cab has a majority of the more than 600 cabs currently operating on Austin streets.

However, the new permits would only be allowed for the other two cab companies, Austin Cab and Lone Star Cab.

The extra taxis will begin operations in 2012.
