AUSTIN (KXAN) - Circuit of The Americas and Hotels for Hope teamed up to raise over $50,000 for Central Texas youth-focused nonprofits through hotels rooms book from last year’s Formula 1 United States Grand Prix.
Hotels for Hope is an Austin-based business that raises funds and awareness for organizations that impact the lives of children. Guests booked hotel rooms for the Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix through the official Circuit of The Americas website , which connected with the Hotels for Hope online reservations tool. Participating hotels then automatically contributed a donation to two Central Texas nonprofits.
The designated recipients for the 2012 Grand Prix event were Austin Partners in Education and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area. Funds donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area have been dedicated to the Boys & Girls Club program development in the Del Valle Independent School District.
“Giving back to children and young adults in the Central Texas community is very important to the entire team at Circuit of The Americas,” Circuit Executive Vice President Bruce Knox said. “This collaborative effort with Hotels for Hope allowed us to capitalize on the tremendous boost to regional tourism that the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix brings to our area by also creating a way for hotels to support local nonprofits. It’s a winning combination.”
Participating hotels in the program made a one dollar donation per room night, with Hotels for Hope matching that donation. That means a two dollar donation for every hotel room night booked through Hotels for Hope in relation to the 2012 Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix.
“Hotels for Hope is proud of what was accomplished with Circuit of The Americas to provide this important community service,” Hotels for Hope founder and owner Neil Goldman said. “Since its inception, Hotels for Hope has already made a significant contribution to our partner beneficiaries, all of which make a direct impact on the lives of children.”
Circuit of The Americas and Hotels for Hope will continue their partnership and fund-raising activities during the Circuit’s 2013 season, and will announce designated nonprofit recipients for the current year in the coming weeks.
