AUSTIN (KXAN) - It was a busy weekend for emergency responders during SXSW 2013.

Warren Hassinger with Austin Travis County EMS medical services says they responded to 88 "incidents" from 3pm Saturday into 3:30am Sunday.

Hassinger says of those, 39 patients were transported to area hospitals.

Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo says his police force was also successful at keeping the crowds safe.

In a Twitter posting early Sunday morning Acevedo said, "Very proud of team APD. Great job by our folks keeping this massive event safe."

Hassinger said most incidents were not serious, though one person believed to be homeless died after a heart attack on 4th and Comal Streets. Hassinger also pointed out the death was not tied to SXSW.
