AUSTIN (KXAN) - Construction workers Monday discovered a man's body in Lady Bird Lake near Interstate 35. Police believe the man was in his 40's, but other identifying information was not immediately known.
Austin police said they were notified at 1:50 p.m. that the body had been sighted by construction crew members working on a future high-rise apartment complex along Riverside Drive and I-35.
The body was seen floating near the south shore of Lady Bird Lake just East of I-35 and not far from Riverside Drive.
The body was pulled from the lake before 5 p.m. A police homicide unit was called to investigate, but KXAN was told that's standard protocol for a body discovered floating in a lake. Police could not tell whether it appeared suspicious, or if it was an accidental drowning.
