AUSTIN (KXAN) - A body was discovered late Friday afternoon near the Colorado River Wildlife Sanctuary and Roy G. Guerrero Park.

Two adults on a wooded trail spotted it and called it in just before 3 p.m. Police and the medical examiner responded. The body was so badly decomposed they can't tell if it was a man or woman, young or old.

"[The body has] been out there awhile, it's not fresh. It was found in the woods off a trail back there," Austin Police officer Craig Smith said.

Austin police tell KXAN they will know a lot more after an autopsy is performed.
