AUSTIN (KXAN) - With last summer's drought behind them, Central Texans are ready for the largest Independence Day celebration in the state -- happening in Austin's backyard.
The traditional Fourth of July concert and fireworks show will happen as in years past at Auditorium Shores on Wednesday.
The Austin Symphony's show will go on this year after being silenced this time last year by the historic drought.
The 36th annual event is planned, produced and performed entirely by the Austin Symphony and with the help of local sponsors.
The Texas National Guard Salute Battery and its 70-millimeter canons will join the massive event.
The orchestra is set to take the stage at 8:30 p.m., followed by “mile-high” fireworks around 9:30 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public. Check out a list of what else you can find to do around the area to celebrate the nation's birthday.
