AUSTIN (KXAN) - A massive storm system over much the nation's heartland will likely bring up to two inches of rain to the Austin area this weekend.
But the models from the Storm Prediction Center suggest that Central Texas will be spared what could be a "high-end, life-threatening event" that's poised to strike between Oklahoma City and Salina, Kan.
The storms to the north could bring storms with baseball-sized hail and winds of up to 70 mph, the storm center said.
The weather in store for the Austin area will be far less severe, said KXAN meteorologist David Mazza. The region is likely to get the most rain toward Sunday.
So far, Central Texas has seen a comparatively dry April as only traces of rain falling over the past two weeks.
