AUSTIN (KXAN) - Huston-Tillotson University said Friday student Fatima Barrie's condition has improved.

The track star was stabbed last week after leaving a Downtown Austin club with friends.

The school said Barrie, 21, was moved from the Intensive Care Unit to a hospital patient area to monitor her progress.

She is breathing on her own, but remains heavily sedated.

The school is asking everyone to keep her in their prayers.
