AUSTIN (KXAN) - Taggers have defaced one of Austin's most iconic murals.
The "Hi, How Are You" mural adorns a business wall on the University of Texas "drag" at the intersection of 21st and Guadalupe streets.
This past weekend, vandals painted grafitti across the wall's mid-section.
It's been a familiar symbol to Austinites for almost 20 years.
Created by local eccentric artist and musician Daniel Johnston in the early 90s, the mural has been featured in commercials, and become a collection of T-shirts, even worn by famous artists like Kurt Cobain.
If you'd like to help out in graffiti removal, you can visit the city's website for more information.
