AUSTIN (KXAN) - A man found dead at an apartment complex in North Austin has police searching for a killer Monday morning.
Shortly before 12:30 a.m. Monday, police were called out for a welfare check at the Wood Trails of Riata apartment complex at 12410 Alameda Trace Circle -- where a man was found shot and killed.
Police said the people who live inside one of the apartments said they couldn't get into their apartment because their door was jammed. When officers managed to get inside the unit they found Mohamad Omar, 22, dead inside.
"We don't believe the neighborhood or the complex are in danger of anything else going on," said an Austin police officer who responded to the incident. "We believe this may be an isolated incident."
Omar did not live in the unit and detectives have not indicated how his body ended up inside someone else's apartment.
Police continue to look for a suspect and the investigation is still on-going.
