AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Austin Parks and Recreation Department on Wednesday issued a burn ban in all city of parks and nature preserves.

The ban includes smoking, open fires, and grilling, with the exception of propane grills and stoves.

Violations will result in a fine between $300 and $500.

The parks department said it will monitor the weather forecast, fire risk, and drought conditions weekly to determine when the ban can be lifted.
