AUSTIN (KXAN) - The Austin Park’s Foundation along with volunteers and project leaders gathered Saturday at Republic Square Park in honor of “Its My Park Day.”
The annual March event focuses on making park improvements and enhancing public spaces in city neighborhoods. This is also the largest volunteer event for APF.
Last year more than 2,000 volunteers participated in more than 70 park-improvement projects across the city.
Among the projects tackled Saturday were mulching, invasive species removal, trail restoration, erosion control, tree pruning, park cleanup, wildflower planting and ecological restoration.
Volunteers received a special-edition 2013 “It's My Park Day” t-shirt and lunch.
