AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin Beauty Week is coming up, so Dr. Elissa Thompson from Heart Hospital of Austin and Glen Huschka from the American Heart Association joined Brian Sanders to talk about heart disease and the risks involved for women.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in women and the annual Austin Beauty Week is held to raise awareness and educate women on prevention.
Dr. Thompson says it is important for women to understand that while 1 in 3 women fall victim to heart disease, it can be prevented.
This year’s events will be held throughout the week of February 6-10 and a list of all the events can be found on the American Heart Association’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
