APD Transportation Summit convenes

Statistics show the extent of problems in Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) - More than 500 people and organizations came together Friday morning to talk about Austin's transportation safety issues at the "Austin Police Department Transportation Safety 2012."

A highlight of the event was the release of a 12-page report on the demographics of accidents in the city for the year.

The information shows how many road and pedestrian fatalities in the city. Crashes and incidents are broken down by age groups and places where they occurred, and more.

Austin's Director of Transportation, Robert Spillar, stopped by KXAN News Today to break down what happened during the summit.
