APD seeks suspect in theft at Macy's

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin Police Department asks for the public's help in locating a suspect wanted for stealing clothing and watches from a display case at Macy's on Aug. 7.

The suspect used a switchblade knife to break into the display cases at the store located at 11200 Lakeline Mall Dr.

Police said after exiting the store, the suspect struggled with loss prevention staff, got away and fled to a car, described as a silver Volkswagen Jetta with a black convertible top and temporary tags, that was waiting in the parking lot. Another man was driving the Jetta.

The theft suspect is described as:

  • white male
  • 25 to 35 years old
  • 6 feet 2 inches tall
  • weighing 220 pounds
  • stocky build
  • brown hair with sideburns
  • goatee
  • last seen wearing a white polo shirt and a blue baseball cap with sunglasses on top

The driver of the Jetta is described as:

  • white male
  • six feet tall
  • last seen wearing a grey shirt and blue jeans

Anyone with information about either men is asked to call APD Region II detectives at 512-974-8146.
