AUSTIN (KXAN) - The man arrested in last week's hit-and-run bicycle wreck that left another man seriously injured failed a sobriety test, police said in the police affidavit released Monday.
According to released documents, 25-year-old Truett Jones was found a few blocks away from the scene where he hit a bicyclist and dragged him, causing serious injuries.
The injured cyclist was identified as Brian Lindquist, 27. He suffered severe head injuries, including multiple skull fractures and swelling to the brain, and remains hospitalized in critical condition.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Jones was obviously intoxicated when he was questioned by police about the incident.
Police say Jones did not realize that he had hit a person and thought he had hit a few cars instead. Officers also believed he was under the influence of marijuana.
Jones has been charged with intoxication assault, a third-degree felony, and and with leaving the scene of an accident. He is being held on $50,00 bond.
