AUSTIN (KXAN) - The body of a man found in a vehicle in the Del Valle area on Christmas Day is being investigated by the Austin Police Department's homicide division.
According to authorities, residents in the 3000 block of Royster Avenue, just off Highway 71, noticed a suspicious vehicle had been parked in the area for several days.
When someone approached the vehicle around 11 a.m. Tuesday, they found the person individual inside.
Neighbors say they were shocked at the discovery.
"It's really bizarre," said Crystal Wade, who was visiting family on Royster Avenue. "I grew up around here and so to see something like this happen I'm really shaken. It kind of dampens the mood on such a festive day."
An autopsy was performed and police said there was no reason to consider the death suspicious. The exact cause of death will not be released until toxicology tests are complete.
