AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin school district officials have made all the facility master plan survey results from parents public.
It was posted to the district’s website at 6 p.m. Friday in preparation for Monday's school board work session. It includes parent opinions on controversial changes on the table for East Austin schools such as opening an in-district charter and turning two middle schools into single gender schools. Parents in North Central Austin were also surveyed on overcrowding solutions the district is considering.
A group of East Austin parents and community members have been critical of Superintendent Meria Carstarphen, saying she has not listened to what the community wants. Carstarphen has defended herself over the last few weeks saying much of her time has been spent calling parents, attending every community input meeting and talking with parents face to face.
Officials also announced they will be posting the legal contract with IDEA Public Schools in their website. The district has been trying to figure out logistics of a partnership for the past several months.
