AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin Independent School District's assistant athletic director, Lynn Davis Pool, has been inducted into the Texas Girls Coaches Association 2012 Hall of Fame.

"It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by your peers," Pool said.

The hall of fame inductee said she was inspired by her high school basketball coach to choose coaching as a profession.

According to her teaching and coaching resume, Pool has certainly excelled in the profession.

Pool started off her extensive career by serving as the head basketball coach and girls athletic director at Lubbock-Cooper High School for three years. Pool went on to be a defensive basketball coach at the University of Texas at Austin, where her team won the national championship with a perfect season of 34 wins.

During the 1984 Olympic trials, Pool was the head national floor coach for the basketball tournaments.

Pool was the head girls basketball coach at Bowie High School from 1990 to 2009 and was then promoted to her current position as the district's assistant athletic director.

The Texas Girls Coaches Association is one of the largest associations of coaches in the United States. It has more than 5,000 members who are coaches and administrators in all levels of education.

"I admire the legends who are in the TGCA Hall of Fame, they are all coaches I have looked up to for many years," Pool said.
