Airport packed at end of ACL Festival

Festival offers biggest on-site sales of the year

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Mondays are typically a busy travel day at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, but Monday will be like no other.

As thousands of visitors to the Austin City Limits Music Festival now head back home, airport officials said they are expecting security lines to be longer than usual and it could take up to an hour just get through Transportation Security Administration checkpoints.

"Tomorrow is probably going to be crazy there were so many people there on Friday," said California attendee Lauren Bogart. "It was a great time but i can only imagine what security lines will be like here tomorrow."

Travelers are being urged to plan to arrive at their terminal at least two hours early. Parking is also another thing that is expected to be effected by this big ACL exodus.

They say giving yourself extra time is the only way to make sure you'll catch a flight with what's expected to be a jam-packed day here tomorrow. Some ACL Festival attendees are already heading out tonight to beat the crowds while those staying until tomorrow say seeing the Red Hot Chili Peppers is worth the long airport lines.

While the delays are bad news for some, airport restaurants and shops actually say the end of the ACL weekend brings their largest sales of the entire year.
