ACL faces stormy weather on Saturday

AUSTIN (KXAN) - The theme for Day 2 of the Austin City Limits Music Festival seems to be “prepare for anything” as drizzle turned into a downpour on Saturday afternoon.

Out came the rain jackets, umbrellas and tents. Although the fields at Zilker Park have become something of a mud pit, the music must go on. Bands continued to play through the rain, entertaining crowds still ready to have a good time.

Music festival organizations continued to monitor the weather. This year, each stage was equipped with wind and temperature gauges that tracked the weather conditions in real time. Music fans from across the world were here to take in the sounds and a little Austin rain as well.

Everyone we spoke with said the weather actually made for a more enjoyable experience.

“It’s perfect. I love it,” said ACL fan Monique LeBlanc. “I’ll take it rain or shine. I just have fun no matter what happens. Even if there’s rain in my beer, I’m good.”

And we wanted to know what ACL’s plan was for severe weather so we reached out to them and they replied with the following statement:

"If faced with dangerous weather conditions, we will always err on the side of safety for our patrons, staff and artists and order an evacuation well in advance of a storm so that patrons have ample time to seek shelter."

Everyone is expecting the Red Hot Chili Peppers to heat up the stage as Sunday’s big act.
